When will practice begin? We don’t have an answer to this question yet. We are waiting for authorization from our school district to begin conditioning practices.
When do games begin? Sports are scheduled to take place between December and June. This is all contingent on approval from state and county health agencies, OCDE, and SAUSD.
How many seasons are there? This year there will be two seasons – Fall & Spring. As a result, some sports that used to play at different times will now be together. A list of sports per season and start dates can be found here: CIF Calendar 2020-21
Can a student play two sports in one season? Yes, as long as they can work out the practice and game schedule with the coaches. A student playing multiple sports will have to split the 18 practice and game hours per week between the two sports.
How will PE/Athletics be handled online? 6th Period Athletics will meet online Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday. Depending on the sport, they will meet with their coach or a teacher and receive a combination PE curriculum along with sport specific items.
Will there be any academic work for PE/Athletics? Students will be responsible for completing work and activity logs for 6th Period Athletics in order to receive PE credit. More info will be provided by the teacher/coach running the class.

Will they have another virtual tryout for sports? There will not be another virtual tryout, but we will have in person tryouts once the district has approved a return to athletic activities.
Is it too late for students to join a sport? There are still opportunities to join sports, and we will have tryout opportunities in the future. Sports are not scheduled to begin until December, so there is still plenty of time. Students should reach out to the coach of any sport that they would like to join to get more specific information. Can a student change sports? Students are able to change sports, but must receive approval from both the coach of the sport that they are dropping and the sport that they are adding.
If I haven’t turned in my clearance form, do I still have time to turn it in? And if so until when? Athletic Clearance – both online clearance packet and physical exams should be completed by now. All students must be cleared prior to any tryouts or practices. If you are not cleared when we get approved to start, you will not be allowed to participate.
