Congratulations to our newest Hall of Fame Inductee – Yvonne Alonzo.

Coach Alonzo is a product of SAUSD, having attended Jefferson Elementary, McFadden Intermediate, and Saddleback High School, graduating in 1975.  

At Saddleback High School she earned 16 Varsity Letters in Volleyball, Basketball, Field Hockey, and Softball.  She was named Saddleback’s first female Athlete of the Year in 1975.

After graduating, she attended Cal State Fullerton and returned to Saddleback as an assistant coach, eventually becoming the head coach of multiple sports including Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball.  She continued coaching at Saddleback for 20 years while working as a teacher at Carr, Lathrop, and Mendez Intermediate Schools.

In 2005 Coach Alonzo was hired by Lyn Maher and Frank Alvarado to open Segerstrom High School as the PE Department Chair and Head Softball Coach.  During her tenure at Segerstrom, her teams have won 6 Golden West League Championships, with numerous players going on to compete at the collegiate level.  In 2017 she earned her 600th career victory, and she continues to be a positive influence in the lives of her student-athletes.
